8/29.- Milan, Piazza Duomo
Lets learn something about Milans history. This Celtic
origin city was during the Roman times one of the biggest cities of
the Empire, Diocleciano named it the Western capital. After a short
barbarian invasion the city was conquered by the Francs. The Francs
king, Carlomagno, crowned himself the Lombards King in 774.
In the 12th century the city became part of the "Liga Lombarda" and
became independent. One century later one of the most powerful families
of its times, the Visconti, took the power. They wanted to control
all the North of Italy, but the Florence-Venice alliance stopped them.
At this time began the construction of the 'Duomo' (Cathedral).
