3/29.- Milan, Duomo, facade 2

Menu

This facade is a not very fortunate mixture of the following styles: Baroque, Neogothic and Neoclassic. The bronze doors are from the 19th century. The best of them are the central gates, designed in 1906 by Lodovico Pogliaghi, in a neoclassic style, with Art Noveau influences. The portico’s five bass-reliefs are 1629 Giambattista Crespi designs. The rest of the facade decoration is from the beginning of the 19th century. The oldest part of the cathedral is the apse, with three wonderful rose windows designed by Filippino de Modena.
