21/25.- Malta, Gozo cathedral

The capital Victoria, also known as Rabat, is a charming blend of rural and refined beauty. Behind austere bastions, in the heart of the capital, stands the Citadel dating back to medieval times.

Inside the Citadel are the Cathedral, two opera houses, several museums; the one I enjoyed most is the Folklore Museum with ancient and modern tools and items of everyday life of Gozitans. Here you can see the Cathedral with its trompe l'oeil effect dome. Note the ancient cannons on the footsteps of the cathedral.
