Malta, Mother Goddess at Tarxien temples
What is typical of the Maltese temple culture is the gorgeous "Mother
Goddess of Fertility" represented
in statuettes and figurines in the islands temples.
A colossal seated "Mother Goddess" statue, 2 meters high, was discovered
in the vestibule of the
Tarxien temple complex. The original stone sculptures are preserved in the
National Museum of
Archeology in Valletta. Here you can see a copy placed in site in the
Tarxien temple.
