Some history now ... After 4 decades of Franco's repression, in 1975 Spain recovered its freedom. And Madrid exploded as a cultural and intellectual center. The 80's "Movida" (it could be translated as movement) was a major change for the city. Madrid used to be a gray and boring city, but with the "movida" it came to life. Many of the artists that took part in the "movida" are now famous world-wide, like Pedro Almodovar (the film director). Who is not only famous for its films, but for the stars that were born in his movies; the actor Antonio Banderas and the actress Penelope Cruz (she's so cute!).
