13/43.- Lyon, Roman theaters

Menu

Lyon's Gallo-Roman Theaters were built in times of Emperor Augustus, around 17-15 BC. There is the big theater, with 11,000 seats --the one in the photo. And a smaller one, the Odeon; which some experts say it used to be roofed.

Classical, rock and popular music performances take place here during the summer season. Contact the local tourist office for more information about these shows.

We will now take the funicular back to 'Vieux Lyon' ...
