On the way to the town center, still in the Castle, we will walk under this bridge.

In the 19th century the Schwarzenbergs abandoned the castle as their official residence. In 1947 the Castle, as the rest of the Schwarzenberg properties, were taken over by the communist government. Since then the Castle has been open to the public and several restorations have taken place.

There are tours that allow tourists to visit some of the rooms of this castle. On this Photographic Tour we won’t visit these rooms, so if you want to see what’s inside its walls you’ll have to come here in person. I can only tell you they are wonderfully decorated. In one of its rooms you can admire the gilded Eggenberk’s coach, you shouldn’t miss either the Masquerade Hall and the Mirror Hall, where festivals take place during the Summer season.
