20.- Kilkenny, St. Canice's Cathedral 2
Here is St. Canice's Cathedral (1251) which
contains some of Ireland's oldest architecture. The
102 foot round tower was built in 847. Round towers
were built for multiple purposes: lookout tower,
bell tower, storage, and a place to hide people and
valuables from raiding Norsemen. For a small fee
you can climb to the top of this round tower.
