8.- Kilkenny, Kilkenny Castle, south gateway

Here is the south gateway into the castle courtyard and one of the towers. You can go through here to sign up for a guided tour. It's the only way to see the inside of the castle and I highly recommend it. After your tour, go back through this gate, cross Parade Street, and check out the Kilkenny Design Center.  Built in the castle's former stable yard, the Design Center has all sorts of crafts that you can watch being made and, of course, purchase.  My wife and I still wear the matching silver Celtic rings we bought during our visit.
