9/50.- Umbria, Orvieto, Moro Tower

Menu

Among Orvieto’s manyl towers (though not quite so many as in San Gimignano in Tuscany) the Moro Tower flanks the 13th-c. Sette Signori Palace, once a papal residence and judges’ office. Its upper floor has a bell which strikes the hours (a deafening experience for who stands next to it !) and a terrace offering a stunning bird’s-eye view over Orvieto and the surrounding Umbrian hills. It is quite a climb, especially on a hot day, but the view is worth the effort.
