3/20.- Great Meteoron, Greece

Like many of the monasteries here, getting to Great Meteoron requires going up and down lots of steps cut into the hillside. But these steps are a major improvement. In centuries past the main way for visitors to reach the monasteries was to be hoisted up in a net via a winch!
