12/45.- Athens, Acropolis Entrance, Propylaea

Now, after a long climb, we finally reach the entrance to the Acropolis proper, the Propylaea, a "monumental gateway."

As with most structures on the Acropolis the Propylaea is mostly of white marble, and also like most structures up here, it's partially ruined (but still very impressive!) Not surprisingly, the Acropolis is often crowded with visitors from all over the world, and the constant stream of folks coming and going here can be a little distracting.
