9/45.- Athens, Roman Agora, Victory Mosque

Just as the Ancient Agora has a Byzantine Church smack in the middle, the Roman Agora has a Turkish Mosque. The Turks ruled Greece for almost 400 years, and this mosque is one of the few surviving remnants of that era. Known as the Fethiye (Victory) Mosque, it dates to the late 15th century and was built to commemorate the Turkish conquest of the city. It is, unfortunately,not open to the public.
