11/26.- Excursions from Glasgow. Inverary Castle

Meander you way along the A83 from Loch Lomond, through beautiful scenic hills and lochs until you arrive at Inverary. As you approach the town look over to the right and you'll see the imposing Inverary Castle, family home of the Clan Campbell who have been the Dukes of Argyll since 1701. Now, say what you want about the aristocracy, but nothing can beat the generosity of the Duke himself who saw to it that as his rather grandiose abode was being built, the impoverished town of Inverary was also being rebuilt. A Duke with a conscience? Philanthropy at its best created this pretty town on the banks of Loch Fyne.
