Mont Ventoux
Not the most successful picture in the series, I must confess, although the
orchard in the foreground and the olive grove in the middle bear witness to
the fertility of the region, which produces both fruit and vegetables as
well as; of course, olives. But the series would not have been complete
without a pictiure of this 1900-metre high mountain, dubbed "the giant of
Provence". The white cap is not snow, but sparkling white stone. On the
summit, there is an air force radar station and a radio station. Climbing
the Mont Ventoux is one of the heavy tasks imposed on the cyclists of the
Tour de France bicycle rade.
