Gordes
The village of Gordes hugs a mountaintop, and its stone houses huddle
against the castle walls. The view is impressive when the visitor, climbing
the road leading up to the village, discovers the site, almost suspended
above the cliffs. There is little space for streets; and some of them,
called "calades", take the form of stone staircases. Another simply passes
underneath the castle.
