Arles: Roman Amphitheatre
Circling the arena under the ground floor arcades, one cannot but admire the
architectural skill of the Roman builders. Today, the amphitheatre is used
for bullfights, which are almost as popular here as they are in Spain.
Arles is also one of the towns where the painter Vincent Van Gogh spent
several years of his life, fascinated by the colourful palette of the
Provence countryside.
