9/45.- Aix-en-Provence: Cézanne

Aix-en-Provence is the city of French painter Cézanne.  2006, the year of his centenary, saw Aix host a major exhibition of his works -- many of these infinite variations on just a few themes, among which the Estaque and the Mont Sainte Victoire.  When in Paris, Cézanne sought the company of the French Impressionists, but he developed a style all of his own in which he boldly experimented with new colour combinations.
