7/45.- Aix-en-Provence: Cours Mirabeau

The Cours Mirabeau, one of the city's main arteries and the centre of Aix life,  is lined with plane trees, under which restaurants and cafés have set up their tables.  On a summer day, the avenue is teeming with colourful crowds and encumbered with souvenir shops and stalls touting their wares -- among which the famous calissons, almond, melon-and-honey candy covered with white sugar glazing.
