Castle
The Castle District
is in the 1st district. This fortified district is about
3 km long. There are two entrances: Bécsi Kapu
Tér (in front of you, at your right) and
Dísz Tér (at our back). We have entered the
district through the Bécsi Kapu
Gate.
After the Mongol
invasion, King Béla IV moved the population of Pest
to Buda, built a castle and fortified it with walls. A
monastery was built soon after (1243).
We are on
Országház street. Now well turn
around and walk to Matthias Church - in the middle of the
Castle District ...
