Welcome to
Bucharest!! Bucuresti in its Romanian form is one of the largest
cities in Europe and home to the biggest contrasts Europe has ever
seen. If you want to visit Bucharest you'll start either from the
large Gara de Nord or the Otopeni International Airport. It's a city
you either adore or hate ... there is no middle road. Judge for
yourself ... We will begin our Photographic Tour in front of the Arcul De
Triumf. This is the Romanian version of the famous Parisian landmark,
built in 1936 in an era of French influence to comemorate the battles
fought in WW I by the Romanian Armies, led then by king Ferdinand I,
which can be seen on one side of the Arch here, on the other being
the Queen Mary of Romania. The Arch measures 27 m in height and lies
in a square in the northern part of the city near the Herastrau Park.
Just across the street from the University, in the centre of the city
lies the central headquarters of the Romanian Comercial Bank, the
country's biggest bank and also this building marks the entrance to
the bank district which lies on the streets behind it. Initially this
1887 building was the headquarters for a large insurance company. The
Magheru Boulevard stretches from the Scala Cinema to the Romana
Square, on its course you find several luxury hotels, many shops,
cinemas art galleries and many other interesting things. It is
renowned for its special characteristic of being especially made,
following his big brothers' models in Paris, for long walks which
fill you with joy, especially in the hot seasons.
