Bucharest, Romanian Commercial Bank
This is the central headquarters of the Romanian Commercial Bank, the country's largest bank. The marvelous building is one of the few still remaining and
in a good shape (remember the Russian church, it's nearby!)
The dark statue by the sculptor Carrier Belleuse on the right portrays a
16th century Romanian king called Michael the Brave, one of the last to
undertake crusades against the Ottoman Empire with the pope's blessing. Also
nearby are 3 other statues of important figures of Romania's 19th century, these being right across the street from the University.
