24/40.- Bucharest, A Neo-Romanian Jewel

Designed by one of Romania's foremost architects, Petre Antonescu, and built in 1912 as an administrative building for the Ministry of Public Works, this Palace now hosts the Bucharest City Hall, Mayor's Office, Local Council and the Prefectura, a sort of local government's appointee's apparatus, nowadays just a puppet working for the government usually charged with making sure that the ruling party's desires are fully accomplished in problems of local interest. Since we're all more fascinated with facades than red-tape and clerks in perpetual search of bribes, let us admire this building only from the outside.
