1/40.- Bucharest: The City of Contrasts
Welcome to the Bucharest Photographic Tour! This initial photograph was not randomly chosen, as most of downtown Bucharest follows no single rule in terms of urban design. There is no obvious delimitation between styles or periods, as there is no delimitation between people. The people here live in so different conditions that the poles are two worlds apart. The two apartment buildings on the left were built in the 30's (the gray one) and respectively the 90's. The 2 houses on the right: the one with a green roof is a typical French-fashion corner building, while the smaller one with a brown roof is a Neo-Romanian style building. It is worthwhile to know that the Neo-Romanian style is unique in the world. We will see more of each type of building later on in the tour.
