The Monnaie Opera, where it all started ... it is here, in the opera-house, that during a performance of La Muette de Portici, the song "Amour Sacré de la Patrie" (“Sacred Love of the Fatherland") caused long-stifled patriotic feelings to explode. The event sparked the 1830 Revolution, which was to lead to the eventual independence of Belgium.
