4/36.- Breton Church Enclosures, Châteaulin, Notre Dame Chapel
Of course, the church enclosures always contain a church or a chapel. Most Breton churches we shall be visiting are built in the local dark grey granite, which with time and the moist climate becomes dappled with patches of lichen-like moss. The side entrance to the church is often covered by a porch. Here, the porch is decorated with a sun-dial and a statue of the Virgin Mary.
