31/35.- Villeneuve Lez Avignon, Montee du Fort

To get to the 'Fort Saint André' you have to walk up the 'Montee du fort' -- the street in front of us. At our left sits another of the monuments in Villeneuve lez Avignon that deserves a visit: the 'Chartreuse of Val de Bénédiction'. This Carthusian Monastery, founded by Pope Innocent VI, is one of the largest in Europe. The complex has three cloisters, a church and a chapel with beautiful frescoes.
