Welcome to an Argelès-sur-Mer photographic tour!

Argelès-village is situated 20 kilometres south of Perpignan approximately halfway to the Spanish border in the region of Languedoc-Roussillon. A quintessential small French town, Argelès-sur-Mer "village" is very much alive.

Argelès means something like clay on sea but in fact the town itself is not by the sea. If you want the beach then you will have to go to Argelès-plage on the Cote Vermeille. The clay part is because the town is in a clay soil area as evidenced by the local pottery available at a shop in the village. You can also find interesting wall ceramics on some of the local shops.
