25/48.-Northeast Vietnam, ethnic minority girls

Several ethnic groups live in the province of Ha Giang. The most numerous are the the Tay, the Dao, and the Hmong.

I found the girls in the picture in a small village in the mountains. I do not recall the name of the town, probably Meo Vac or Yen Minh. When they saw us, first they hid away. They were afraid of us, two Westerners. Walking slowly and showing the best of our smiles, we could get closer to them. When they saw there was no reason to be afraid of, they talked to us. They were really curious about our presence there. Unfortunately none of them spoke English.
