5/18.- Mui Ne, fisherman

Phan Thiet and Mui Ne's main activity is still fishing. On Mui Ne's beach you will see many boats like the ones in the picture.

Local fishermen go fishing everyday first hour in the morning. If you wake up early, you will see them arriving with their catches. After negotiating the sale of the fish on the same beach, they carry these rounded boats back to a safe place, and get their nets ready for the next day.

During the worst times of the communist regime, thousands of vietnamese escaped the country with boats like these. They were called the boat people. Most of them went to Hong kong. Many were sent back to Vietnam.
