Although the city has not opened to foreign tourism till recently, I was surprised to see how tourist friendly Hanoi is. In Vietnam things happen all the time, and very fast. When locals saw they could make some money with foreigners, they started building hotels, bars and restaurants. In a few years the center of Hanoi was completely transformed. Nowadays the Old District of Hanoi is a tourist paradise. Thousand of tourists from all countries flood the streets of the French District everyday.
