14/40.- Wat Traphang Nguen, Sukhothai

Wat Traphang Nguen is a small complex situated on an island in the middle of a very pretty lotus pond. The temple itself is OK, with a Buddha seated in a ruined, columned, building in front of a lotus-bud shaped tower, but the views over the surrounding pond and area are the real highlight. If, like me, you have the place completely to yourself and the only noises are lots of twittering birds, it's really a terrific place to experience.
