For most foreign visitors the person synonymous with Taiwan is the Generalissimo Chiang Kai-Shek and this Memorial Hall built in his honor would be a good starting point for a tour of Taipei. The CKS Memorial Hall is a sprawling complex located in the center of the city. Its focal point is the hall honoring Chiang (pictured here) which took 4 years to complete (inaugurated in 1980). Uninformed visitors might be in for a surprise if expecting to come across his tomb here as it is located outside Taipei (in an area called Cihu).
