Singapore, Chinatown, Chinese New Year
Probably the biggest festival that takes place in Singapore is the Chinese New Year. For a week, streets and shops in China Town are decorated with colorful New Year goodies and lights. Unfortunately firecrackers are banned in Singapore since 1972.
Other nice festivals that take place in Singapore are: the Chingay Parade of Dreams, in late February; the Thaipusam, a Hindu festival that takes place in late January; and the Mid-Autum Festival, in late September-early October.
