Menu

Madaba has been inhabited since the ancient times. It is frist mentioned in the Bible at the time of the Exodus (1200 BC). After a short period under the Ammonites rule (2nd century BC) it became a Jewish town, and then part of the Nabatean kingdom. But it was under the Romans rule when the town flourished and many temples and buildings were built.

The Madaba Archeological Museum displays some of the finest mosaics found in the town and its region. You can see one of them in the picture.
