27/50.- Tokyo, Odaiba, Rainbow Bridge
Odaiba is the district in the Bay of Tokyo
formed by artificial islands. The first islands was built in
1853 in order to protect the city from sea attacks. In 1928
more islands were added.
Odaiba was remodeled in the 1980's, when many
state of the art buildings were constructed. Unfortunately,
the 1990's crisis brought the area into oblivion. In the late
1990's Odaiba was born again thanks to the change in local law
that allowed the construction of entertainment and shopping
complexes. Since then, people from Tokyo discovered its seaside.
