17/31.- Osaka, Temmangu Shrine, lanterns

In the picture you can see the lanterns that hang in the Temmangu Shrine.

The Tenjin Matsuri Festival began being celebrated in the 10th century. Since then, it has taken place on July 24th and 25th every year. On these days, locals dressed in traditional costumes bring shrines from Osaka Temmangu shrine to Tenjin Bridge, where they load them onto boats. After dusk there are spectacular fireworks.
