21/25.- Nara, Kasuga Shintoist Shrine

Kasuga is Nara's biggest shrine. Shrines are always dedicated to Shinto deities in Japan. The Kasuga shrine belonged to the famous family clan of the Fujiwara, and was founded in the eighth century.

In Kasuga you will find four shrines dedicated to four different Shinto deities.

Kasuga Shrine can be accessed on a 15-minute walk from Todaji temple.
