5/25.- Nara, Kofukuji Temple, roof

In this picture you can see one of the tiles on the Kofukuji Temple's roof.

Kofukuji was one of the "Four Great Temples" of the Nara period, and was the head temple of the Hosso sect of Buddhism.

The best time to come to Nara is in Spring, when the cherry trees blossom. Summer and fall are ok too. Winters are cold, but this is not a bad time to come either; the snow adds some charm to the temples. In June and July there is a mild rainy season.
