4/25.- Nara, Kofukuji Temple, interior

One of the highlights of the Kofukuji temple is its Treasure House, with its collection of statues and artworks originally contained in the temple buildings. Among the most valuable pieces are the statue of Ashura, the bronze Buddha Head and the Thousand Armed Kannon Hachibushi.

Kofukuji temple has been on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites since 1998.

Nara is one of Japan's top tourist destinations. Its range of accommodation is very wide. The best area to stay is close to the JR Nara Station. Many visitors come to Nara on a one day tour from Kyoto or Osaka, though.
