38/50.- Kyoto, Shimogamo Shrine

In the north of Kyoto, not far from Kamigamo Shrine, sits the Shimogamo--jinja Shrine Complex with more than 50 shrine buildings.

Among the most valuable shrines are the West Main Shrine Building and the East Main Shrine Building. In these buildings Kamotaketsunuminomikoto and Tamayorihimenomikoto deities are enshrined.

Shimogamo-jinja Shrine is also known as Kamomioya-jinja shrine.
