36/50.- Kyoto, Kamigamo Shrine

Kamigamo-jinja Shrine, also known as Kamowakeikazuchi, was the family shrine of the kamo clan of Yamashiro.

The kamigamo shrine is a complex of more than 35 buildings. The two main ones are the Honden (or Main Shrine Building) and the Fonden (or Associate Shrine Building).

Kamigamo Shrine can be accessed on foot from Kinkaku-ji Temple, or by bus to Kamigamojinja Mae or Kamigamo Misonobashi.
