26/50.- Kyoto, Gion

The district of Gion is popular for its Geisha bars, Kabuki theaters, Ochaya Tea bars, and Japanese restaurants.

In the picture you can see a traditional restaurant in one of the back streets in Gion District. Prices in Japan are not as high as they used to be. But if you want to have dinner in one of the best restaurants in Kyoto, you may exceed your card's credit limit. In Kyoto you will find plenty of small restaurants, with affordable menus, though.

Later we will visit the Gion District in detail, now it is time to go to the Nijo Castle.
