Most touts are very persistent. They will welcome you to their city with a smile, ask you where you come from, ask your name, tell you they do not want any money from you,.. Do not listen to them!

Nothing is for free. Some touts will ask for a donation at the end of their “guided” tour, others will take you to a “relative's” shop, where they will get a commission. You'd better not talk to the “friendly” boys in the streets. But do not be misguided, people in Madawa are very nice and friendly, especillay in local shops (not in tourists shops, they are only interested in your money).
