3/21.- Mamallapuram, Shore Temple

Menu

The Shore Temple consists of two temples constructed in the 7th century during the rule of the King Narsimha Varman II Rajasimha.

The two temples are dedicated to Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu, one facing west, the other facing east. The East Temple houses a lingam, the symbol of Shiva.

The temples are particularly beautiful when lit by the moonlight. The entrance ticket for the Shore temple gives you also access to the Pancha Pandava Rathas (Five Rathas).
