Nearby is the famous Terrace of the Elephants, a long wall, about 8 feet high and a quarter mile long, with elaborate carvings on the sides. The carvings on the southern part depict a long procession of elephants (hence the name). The northern part, known as the Terrace of the Leper King, has carvings of various demons, nagas, and other mythological beings. The wall is approximately 30 feet wide, so one can climb the stairs near the southernmost part at the Terrace of the Elephants, walk along it the whole length, and descend near the northern end.
