11/42.- Almaty, Medeo

The city streets oriented along the mountainsides. They have "up" and "down". The city in total has a rectangular cross-street plan. You can easy orientate there: inhabitants while explaining you a way to one or another place of the city certainly will say: "Go up (or down) along the street" or "Go to the corner of Gogol and Furmanov streets ..."

Lets go up the Dostyk avenue to the upper region of the city called Medeo. Here is the famous skating rink with artificial ice in the valley between beautiful mountains on 1691 m above the sea level. A little upper of the stadium you can see the setting pool with the crystal water which is used for the ice on the skating rink.
