Nassau, Restaurant
Apparently, the owner of this restaurant did not know which color to
choose. So he put them all in. Nassau food is delicious. The main dish
is conch (pronounced konk), which can be eaten raw, "cracked", steamed,
stewed or, above all, in the typical deep-fried "fritters", all served with
spicy and garlicky sauce, and accompanied by peas'n rice, fried plantain
bananas, or, more surprisingly, cheese macaroni.
The beverages are equally colorful (yes, I know : I keep using that
adjective. But if you go to Nassau you will immediately understand why
!!). Nassau produces all kinds of rum, mixed into cocktails and punches
served in coconuts or in decorated glasses, though sometimes wrapped in a
bag or napkin to keep it cool in the steaming weather.
