15/22.- Liberia, main church

If you are in the area of Liberia, and have some days left, I recommend a visit to the National Park of Santa Rosa, north on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, close to Nicaragua. In the Santa Rosa park there is the Nancite Beach. Nancite Beach is a protected area for the nesting of the Lora Tuttle.

From July to November there is a massive arrival of turtles. They come to lay their eggs in Nancite Beach. The event is known as the "arribada". Thousands of turtles can be spotted on the night of the "arribada".

The accessed to Nancites beach is closed to tourists, but you may get a special permit if you ask the park.

On the nearby Playa Naranjos, crocodiles can be seen.
