A detailed look at the beautiful currency. The cinco colones bill has a picture of "Alegoria, Teatro Nacional" from 1897. However, US dollars are widely accepted and your hotel bill is in dollars. (My wife Janus, who took these photos, spent 3 weeks improving her Spanish at the Forester Institute in San Jose.
